2025 Chrysler Pacifica: problems, recalls and fuel economy
The 2025 Chrysler Pacifica has 31 owner complaints on file with NHTSA[1] and 10 recalls on record[2]. Air bags are the most named complaint group[3], Air bags are the most named complaint group[3], and in the air bag texts we read, most describe waiting for a recall repair.
Most reported problems
NHTSA lists 31 owner complaints for the 2025 Pacifica[1]. Three of them mention a crash, and none mention a fire, an injury or a death[1]. These are unverified owner reports, and one complaint can name more than one component.
| Component group | Complaints |
|---|---|
| Air bags[3] | 9 |
| Forward collision avoidance[6] | 7 |
| Speed control[7] | 6 |
| Engine[8] | 5 |
| Power train[9] | 3 |
| Fuel/propulsion system[10] | 3 |
| Brakes[11] | 3, and all 3 mention a crash |
| Electrical system[12] | 2 |
We also read a small sample of the complaint texts. It is not a count of all owners, so treat it as a hint and not a measure.
- Air bags. In the 7 texts we read, 6 describe waiting for the side curtain air bag recall repair[3]. Owners say parts were not yet available or the dealer had a waiting list[3]. One text describes a crash where the owner says the brakes did not slow the van and the air bags did not deploy. That claim is unverified[3].
- Forward collision avoidance. Of 7 distinct texts, 6 describe the adaptive cruise control dropping out, not holding a safe distance, or the van speeding up or lunging without the driver pressing the gas[6].
- Speed control. Of 6 distinct texts, 4 describe cruise control trouble or sudden acceleration[7]. Two of those say the brake did not slow the van[7]. Two other texts describe the van stalling or losing power while driving[7].
- Engine. Of 5 texts, 2 describe an engine replacement after a check engine light[8]. One of those owners says it happened more than once[8]. Two describe hesitating or stalling[8]. One describes dash warning lights after a clunk[8].
Power train, fuel system, brakes and electrical each have 3 or fewer complaints, too few to call a pattern[9][10][11][12].
Recalls
NHTSA has 10 recalls on record for the 2025 Pacifica[2]. Newest first:
- Stability control (26V561). A capacitor in the brake pedal position sensor may be cracked. That can cause a loss of electronic stability control and raises the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect and replace the sensor as needed, free of charge. About 2,017 vehicles are potentially affected[13].
- Front air bags (26V358). A spring inside the front seat harness connector may touch electrical terminals. That could stop the air bags from deploying. Braun is the recalling company. Dealers will replace the spring, free of charge. 141 vehicles are potentially affected[14].
- Wheelchair restraints, Braun (26V296). The retractors may not lock, so a wheelchair may not be secured. It can move in transit and injure someone. Braun will work with Q'Straint to inspect and replace the retractors as needed. 476 vehicles are potentially affected[15].
- Remedy pending
Side curtain air bags (26V189). The curtain air bags may not hold pressure well enough. That raises the risk of ejection and injury in a crash. Dealers will replace them as necessary, free of charge. About 293,264 vehicles are potentially affected[16]. This recall expands and replaces 25V302 and 25V573, and vans repaired under those earlier recalls need the new remedy[16]. Some owners in our complaint sample say parts were not yet available and that they were put on waiting lists[3]. - Wheelchair restraints, Vantage Mobility (25V877). The retractors on certain QRT-Deluxe and QRT-Max restraints may not lock. The recall names 2021 to 2025 Pacifica among other models. Dealers will inspect and replace the retractors, free of charge. 1,019 vehicles are potentially affected[17].
- Wheelchair restraints, Rollx (25V876). This is the same kind of retractor problem. The recall lists the Pacifica among many models and points to Rollx's report for model years. Rollx will work with Q'Straint to inspect and replace the retractors as needed. 86 vehicles are potentially affected[18].
- Side curtain air bags (25V573). Improperly sealed seams may let the curtain air bags lose pressure, which raises the risk of ejection and injury in a crash. 985 vehicles are potentially affected[19]. This recall is replaced by 26V189[19].
- Radio and rearview camera (25V471). An incorrect radio can keep the rearview camera image from showing. That reduces the driver's view behind the van. 21 vehicles were affected, and the recall says all of them have been repaired[20].
- Side curtain air bags (25V302). The same seam problem, covering 2022 to 2025 Pacifica and Voyager vehicles. About 250,651 vehicles were potentially affected[21]. This recall is replaced by 26V189[21].
- Front brake caliper bolts (25V191). Bolts holding the front brake caliper bracket may not be tight enough. That can reduce steering control, leak brake fluid and cause loss of front brake function. It covers certain 2025 Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid vans only. Dealers will inspect and replace the brackets and bolts as necessary. 8 vehicles are potentially affected[22].
NHTSA says VINs for the side curtain air bag recall (26V189) are searchable on NHTSA.gov[16].
Fuel economy
EPA lists three versions for 2025:
| Version | City | Highway | Combined |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pacifica, front-wheel drive[4] | 19 mpg | 28 mpg | 22 mpg |
| Pacifica AWD[23] | 17 mpg | 25 mpg | 20 mpg |
The Pacifica Hybrid is rated 30 MPGe combined, with 520 miles of range[24]. All three use a 3.6L 6-cylinder engine[4][23][24].
EPA estimates yearly fuel cost at $3,050 for front-wheel drive[4] and $3,350 for AWD[23]. Those figures use EPA's current fuel price assumptions, not the price when the van was new.
Safety ratings
NHTSA gives the front-wheel-drive Pacifica 5 stars overall, 5 for frontal crashes, 5 for side crashes and 4 for rollover[5]. Its rollover risk is 11.6%[5]. The AWD version has the same star ratings, with a rollover risk of 12.1%[25].
Engine and size
EPA lists the 3.6L 6-cylinder engine at 220 to 287 hp, depending on version[26].
Dimensions below are Canadian-market specifications and can differ slightly from US vans.

Complaint counts are not adjusted for sales, so this compares only Pacifica model years with each other.
- Complaints. 2025 has 31[2]. Only 2026 (11) and 2027 (1) have fewer[2]. Every other listed year has more, from 73 for 2024 up to 1,616 for 2017[2].
- Recalls. 2025 has 10[2]. Four listed years have more: 2017 (17), 2018 (16), 2023 (14) and 2024 (11)[2]. 2022 also has 10[2]. The other listed years have 9 or fewer[2].
Should you buy a used 2025 Pacifica?
The 2025 Pacifica has a low complaint count, with only 2026 and 2027 listing fewer[2], and NHTSA rates it 5 stars overall[5]. The recall list is long, though, and the largest recall, for side curtain air bags, potentially covers 293,264 vehicles[16]. Owners in our small complaint sample describe waiting for that repair[3], so ask a dealer whether the new remedy has been done on the exact van. Cruise control and acceleration complaints also show up in our sample[6][7], so it is worth testing those features on a drive. Wheelchair equipment recalls apply to vans equipped with the named restraints[15][18][17].
